Holiday in Paradise......

Firstly, I must say we are really glad we chose Kanuhura. There are so many resorts to choose from in Maldives and since we were going on our honeymoon, we spent a lot of time in choosing the resorts and had narrowed down to Six Senses Laamu, Constance Halaveli, Conrad Rangali and Kanuhura. We decided on Kanuhura because a friend had been there and he strongly recommended it plus we got a great deal so we could stay longer!

We stayed in a water villa for 7 nights. Before going, we had planned to stay for 4 nights in a water villa and 3 nights in a beach villa, just for a different experience. But, after setting our eyes on the water villa, my wife and I felt like just staying there for the whole stay. The water villas are superbly made, very large with wonderful views of the ocean. The bedroom is large with french windows that open out to a sun deck with stairs leading directly into the ocean. The deck has a small round table with chairs, an outside shower, 2 hammocks which are literally over the water and 2 sun loungers. You can see the ocean while sleeping on the bed too so you wake up in the morning to an amazing view. The bathroom is huge, with an open to sky shower area plus a bath-tub. The villa is equipped with all modern amenities, the wifi connection was a bit patchy though. Overall, our water villa was very luxurious with breathtaking views and we took a villa at the end of the jetty so we got more privacy. Even as I'm writing this review, I feel like going back to our water villa and staying there for some days!

We were on a meal package so it included buffet breakfast and dinner at the Thin Ra restaurant everyday (which became slightly monotonous after 3-4 days). Very sumptuous spread and we liked sitting on the beach, by the water- the ambiance was very pleasing. However, I must mention that there was a serious lack of vegetarian options for the main course on some days. The staff was very helpful and the chef used to make us eggless croissants for breakfast. We visited the other restaurants but didn't really eat there. The breakfast spread was very lavish so we used to either skip lunch or order in the villa.

It's a very beautiful island and pretty big too with lots of things to do. We visited the nearby Jehunara island a couple of times and even took picnic lunch with us once. Also, we had breakfast on a little dhow boat which takes you around the island- it was a very pleasant experience. There are a lot of water activities that you can try out, we saw quite a lot of marine life within the resort itself. We used to go for long walks around the island, there are a number of seating/lounging options on the beach too and at times we used to just relax and look at the view. Also, I must mention that though this is a pretty big resort, we hardly saw anyone about except in the restaurant and reception area. There were a lot of families with small kids, but it's a great place for couples too- you won't see many people arnd except at the restaurant.

The service was excellent, the best we have experienced so far. The reception staff and the restaurant staff were extremely helpful. Special mention to our butler, Iman, he made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable.

Overall, it was a great experience, we had a very memorable stay, a nice laid-back and relaxing holiday on an island and away from the fast, noisy city-life. Maldives is a great place to visit, simply out of this world and we are very glad we chose to visit it for our honeymoon. Kanuhura is a wonderful property, everything was just perfect from the moment we landed at Male airport to the moment we got back to Male. We were already planning our next visit to Maldives even before we had left and we can't wait to go back!
